reminder | 2021

acrylic on canvas, 70 x 60

This narrative is about acceptance and expression of our feelings and emotions, which are an inseparable part of human nature gathering into a bigger picture of our inner world. White mixed with cream on the background reflects the pureness of a soul but also surrounds with comfort.

Complexities of feelings, both what tend to be claimed as ‘negative’ or ‘positive’, might often be misunderstood and misinterpreted; at the same time, a certain stigma in our society is restricting the expression of negative emotions, which messes things up even more.

What I have actually realised is that feelings act as important indicators throughout our life path and by ignoring those we lose the connection with ourselves and our body.

Everything is about the perspective; an ambiguous reality allows to see both sides and find positives in the negatives – unpleasant mossy green may turn into an enchanting rose pink*. Orange calls for attention and suggests freedom, expression and balance.

So here is a reminder for me and for the viewer to turn the attention inwards and acknowledge our emotional response to let it guide us through the external world.

*I have used iridescent paint that changes the colour from dark green to pink depending on an angle
